Avocado starter in water vs in dirt

Here you will see the avocado planted in the dirt. 

Below you will find the start of our avocado in water.

With both I will be making sure the bottoms keep moist at all time. We want to see the progress of both. 

Now the one in the dirt has been planted a week earlier, so it should sprout before, but we want to see if it gets bigger faster or which is easier.
